This five-day, hands-on textile collage workshop offers step-by-step instruction... Tips for choosing the perfect photo to work with. How special effects can help you “see” images with more creativity. Instructions for designing precise, photorealistic patterns. Why value is more important than color when selecting fabrics and how contrast captures attention and brings your work to life. Why my “go-to” fusible is a game-changer. How to create backgrounds that will enhance your subject. Free-motion quilting techniques that add depth and dimension. Creative finishing ideas that go beyond batting & backing. And of course… those eyes! This workshop will include “EYECONIC” - A Masterclass in Eye Creation. 2 hour small group eye sessions, scheduled throughout the week. (A special kit will be available for purchase for Eyeconic Supplies - details to follow) What to expect: Lunches, Afternoon Snacks, and Specialty Supplies are included. We’ll have Door Prizes and a PowerPoint Presentation: “Threads of Influence: Artists I Admire and Lessons I’ve Learned” Upon completion of class you’ll be invited to join Stacey’s Fiber Cafe’ Private FB Group. Tuesday 9:00am - 7:00 pm - We'll order pizza for dinner Wednesday 9:00 - 5:30 pm Thursday: 9:00 - 2:45 - Field Trip to Sue Spargo’s Quilt Shop - return to class 4:30 - 7:00 pm Friday 9:00am - 4:30pm Each student will create a 16" x 20" textile collage using their own pre-approved photograph. Most students begin quilting at home. If... your project is simple and you tend to work fast, bring your machine and a variety of threads. 60-days before class I will communicate individually with each student regarding photo selections, what to look for when choosing fabrics, detailed information on what to bring to class and answer any questions. Class Cost: $650. $200 non-refundable down payment. Balance due September 15th.
